Suffolk County Warrant Records Suffolk County Warrant Records

This page explains what this site can and cannot help with, and where questions about official Suffolk County warrants belong. Most of them belong with the court that issued the warrant or with a Sheriff records office, not with us. Nobody here can recall a warrant, clear a docket entry, or speak for a court. What the page does provide is a routing list, so each question lands with the office that keeps the file. The routing below sends each need to the right place.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear one, post bail, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice to anyone. For any of those, reach the issuing court or the Sheriff's records office directly.

Here is where the questions people ask most often about Suffolk County warrants belong:

  • A warrant for a missed court date: the court that set the case, since it issued the warrant and holds the file
  • Whether a warrant exists: the clerk of the issuing court. For a Boston or Winthrop case that is the Boston Municipal Court division named on the notice. For a Chelsea or Revere case it is Chelsea District Court. For a felony it is the Superior criminal clerk.
  • Recalling or clearing a warrant: a licensed Massachusetts attorney working with the issuing court, which controls recall, bail, and discharge
  • Custody questions: the Sheriff's facility records lines, which confirm who is being held but do not clear a warrant
  • Civil papers or a civil capias: the Sheriff's Civil Process Division, which handles civil service only and not criminal warrants
  • A record an agency holds: the Records Access Officer of the office that holds it, through the Massachusetts Public Records Law
